Despite that, I went to see New Moon, by choice. Confused? Well, for one, I'm a sucker for vampire movie, even when I know they're going to be bad. It's...yeah....just one of those things. Also, I saw the trailer, and the trailer seemed to be "action packed" enough -or at least seemed to be more "action packed" than the first. As far as the movie itself goes, that is another story.

"New Moon" seems to suffer from quite a few problems that the last film did. The story, starting off about a year after the events of "Twilight" begans with a fimiliar ring. There's this chick named Bella (Juliet) and a vampire named Edward (Romeo), together entrapped in a dangerous love (blah, blah, blah....). To make a long story short, after Bella's 18th birthday disaster, Edward is forced to leave Bella behind in a world where vampires no longer exsist. Taking advantage of this situation, newly buffed up best friend Jacob comes along, romantically making his move on Bella, proving himself to have almost as many issues as her previous, Edward.

The movie being almost 2.5 hour long goes on and on like this for the majority of the running time. Sure, there is action here and there (unlike in the first film), but the badly acted melodramatic mushy, and somewhat even abusive scenes of "love" seems to go on forever. And let's not even get started on some of the dialog, such as, "Wow Jacob, you're so buff." I mean, we get it; he worked out -he has his shirt off for half of the movie. Really we get it...

Despite the above, I am not saying that there isn't anything tolrable about the film. As stated, there action and SFX has been improved, as well as the editing. The absence of Edward thgough most of the movie was a relief; I found Jacob to be much less hassel to watch than Mr. Overly Emotional. His chracter isn't anything to get excited about, but he is less gay than Edward. Dokota Fanning fans should also get a kick out of seeing her presence (even if for a very short time), protraying Jane, one of the members of an Italian vampire family -the royalty of the vampire world, apparently.

All in all, fangirls (and fandudes) of the series will probably love and embrace the film. It's not a masterpeice, but it's what they seem to like. Guys, and skeptics who saw the last film, and perhaps might be thinking to catch a bit of action over the weekend...go and see "2012" instead.

My grade: C

Remember, You Shall Die

Very solemn words, and yet I can't wait to hear them again. Flyleaf return for their second outing with their latest album, "Memento Mori", which translates to (you might have guessed), "remember, you shall die". Night Shyamalan, entitled simply “The Last Airbender”. The film I am referring to is part of another world altogether; a sci-fi, taking place light-years, and light-years away from earth, or anything like, featuring a native alien race known as Na’Vi, who oddly resemble blue cat-like creatures, dressed as your stereotypical portrayal of a Native American. Apparently we, the humans, arrive on this planet (Pandora), and send in an ex marine disguised as one of the Na’vi’ in order to spy and ultimately gain control one of their natural resources. Though of course the character falls in love with one of the blue-cats, and is faced with quite the moral dilemma, which is where the fun begins. Did I mention it being in 3D? You see, sounds nothing alike. Despite these differences, “Avatar: The Last Airbender” fans still seemed to be confused, whis makes propose one of two things: Either James Cameron messed up market wise, despite having owned the title for literally years, or perhaps 10 years old “Avatar: The Last Airbender” fans are just... well, easily confused . I’ll get back to you on that one. The only thing I do know is that something needs to be done here, and quick, before December hit, and Cameron find his 200 million plus dollars baby on Americas most wanted. Whatever may be, for all of the “Avatar: The Airbender” fans who will no doubt walk out of James Cameron’s epic in a rage, complaining that it wasn’t the film that they thought it was, you are soon to be in luck; M. Night is workin hard taking care of you.

<link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://yourentertainmenthere.blogspot.com/2009/11/avatar-well-that-sure-doesnt-look-like.html' title='Avatar?
